Adversity Into Adulthood

Adversity is a term that many adults are familiar with. According to Webster adversity means a difficult situation or condition. Going out on a whim here, and assuming that all adults have experienced a difficult situation. Some handle adversity better than others, and some... well, not so much. Optimistic personalities stick to the phrase "when life gives you lemons, make lemonade", on the other hand, a Debby downer may say,"life is just hard". Many would agree that life is hard... understatement very hard, optimistic point of view; life is what you make it.

While viewing the speech by Andrew Solomon: How The Worst Moments In Our Lives Make Us Who We Are on Ted.com. Solomon spoke about being bullied while growing in school. He commented about how kids called him "Percy" because of his demeanor. Later in life Solomon acknowledged his homosexuality and eventually married his partner. Andrew Solomon believed that the adversity he faced a child made him into the adult that he is today.

All in all adversity is challenging while in the mist of it, although the outcome is well worth it the turmoil. Adversity forms teenagers into adults, and adults into mature adults, as well as  giving a deeper understanding of what a life really means.  After all... pressure make diamonds!
